Anne and Vinny Mansfield moved to Sacramento in April of 1988. Anne was working as an admin to the President of a large medical diagnostic company. Her boss had been travelling between New Jersey and Sacramento for two years prior to the move. He was constantly complaining that he could not find a "decent" ride to the airport. Where they came from, "black car" services were the travel option for most busy executives.
"Black Car" services are different than cabs, vans and stretch limousines.
You can't generally make an advance reservation for a cab. You never get in the same one twice. Cleanliness, comfort, appearance and dependability are a hit-or-miss proposition. The price is never the same, since the meter operates on a time and mileage basis. The typical cab user is going a very short distance. The cost will be low and the rider will spend very little time in the vehicle.
Vans services are a "ride-share" option. You generally make multiple stops. You are usually required to leave earlier than you would like in order to make these stops. You have no option in determining how long you sit around the airport waiting to board your plane. Upon your return, you have to go to a centralized location to find your service and then sit around waiting until everyone shows up from various flights.
Most busy executives, travelling by themselves, generally want the service provided by a limousine service, but would rather not pay the higher than average tab that goes along with a stretch limousine. They also do not like the ostentatious image represented by riding in one. In their minds, a stretch is for special occasions and/or larger groups.
The primary business of most limousine services is the hourly charter. Weddings, proms, dinner parties, etc. are their bread and butter. Point A to point B service is done as an "afterthought". It is something to do to keep the cars moving.
We wanted our service to cater to that part of the market. Our
clients don't like to leave their cars at the airport. Many of them have a
lot of luggage and would rather have someone else handle it for them. Our clients wish to make a reservation and forget about that aspect of their travel. They wish to get in a clean, dependable car. They want someone who is on time and will get them safely to the airport at the time they want to get there. They want to know that when their inbound flight arrives, there will be a smiling face there to greet them and take them where they want to go. That's what CEO Transport is all about.
